Transfer of INNOvative techniques for sustainable water use in FERtigated crops, FERTINNOWA
In EU, the economic production of high-value horticultural crops relies on applications of water and fertilisers to ensure that the quality meets consumer requirements. FERTINNOWA includes various stakeholders at several levels including the socio-economic and regulatory level (national, EU) with a special focus on the implications of EU Water Framework Directive and Nitrate Directive. A major objective is to create a database of innovative technologies&practices to improve the environmental and economic sustainability of high-value vegetable, fruit and ornamental crops.
FERTINNOWA is a thematic network approved under the H2020-WATER-4b call of 2015. With 23 members the FERTINNOWA consortium covers up to 85% of the EU horticultural area. In European countries, the cultivation of fertigated crops frequently suffers from a scarcity of water, and the intensity of cultivation poses significant potential risks to water quality. Innovative technologies and knowledge are available, but simply not implemented at the production - farms level. The main goal of the FERTINNOWA network is to make the grower to implement innovative technologies in order to optimize the water use efficiency and their status under the EU water legislation and thereby contribute to more sustainable water use while taking into account the wider socio-economic context. The concept of FERTINNOWA is to create a meta-knowledge data base on current and innovative technologies and practices for fertigation of crops, including vegetables, fruit and ornamentals and a platform to evaluate and exchange all this knowledge and ensure a wide dissemination to all the stakeholders involved.
The main project outcomes are:
- The Fertigation Bible has been prepared to provide useful practical information to the horticultural sector of the diverse technologies available for all aspects of fertigation within the EU. The various stage of the “fertigation process” are shown in the schematic representation. It contains descriptions of the technologies related to the stages.
- Selected technologies are being showcased in several EU regions.
- Technology database - collected technologies on the 5 themes: water source&availability, improve irrigation water quality, irrigation/fertigation equipment and management, limiting the environmental impact.
FERTINNOWA projekt je bil odobren na razpisu H2020-WATER-4 iz leta 2015. Konzorcij z 23 partnerji FERTINNOWA pokriva do 85% vrtnarske pridelave v EU. V evropskih državah pri pridelavi gnojenih pridelkov pogosto pride do pomanjkanja vode, intenzivnost pridelave pa predstavlja velika potencialna tveganja za kakovost vode. Inovativne tehnologije in znanja so na voljo, vendar jih preprosto ne izvajamo na ravni proizvodnje - kmetij. Glavni cilj FERTINNOWA mreže je omogočiti pridelovalcu, da uporablja inovativne tehnologije za optimiranje rabe vode in njenega stanja v skladu z EU vodno direktivo. Prav tako prispeva k učinkovitejši in trajnostni rabi vodnih virov, ob upoštevanju širšega socialno - ekonomskega aspekta. Namen projekta FERTINNOWA je ustvariti podatkovno bazo znanja o dosedanjih inovativnih tehnologijah in praksah za gnojenje poljščin, vključno z zelenjavo, sadjem in okrasnimi rastlinami, kot tudi platformo za ocenjevanje, izmenjavo ter širjenja znanja med zainteresiranimi deležniki.
Glavni rezultati projekta so:
- Biblija o fertigaciji bila izdelana v namen, da vrtnarskemu sektorju nudi koristne in praktične informacije o različnih tehnologijah, ki so na voljo za posamezne vrste fertigacije v EU. Različne faze "postopke fertigacije" so prikazane v shematičnem prikazu.
- Izbrane tehnologije so predstavljene v številnih evropskih regijah.
- Tehnološka baza podatkov - zbrane tehnologije za 5 področij: vodni viri in razpoložljivost, izboljšanje kakovosti vode za namakanje, oprema za namakanje/fertigacija in upravljanje ter blaženje vplivov na okolje.
