The nation that destroys its soil, destroys itself

Alpine soils are highly valuable but at the same time are under pressure by human activities and climate change. The EU Strategy for the Alpine Region considers soil protection and land-saving spatial planning as major contributions to sustainable development. Within this project, the partnership selected three extremely influential and interlinked topics for Alpine soils: Water Management, Inner Development and Peatlands. These topics are all interconnected with soil quality, consumption and protection, which are currently affected by climate change.

The toolbox offers best practices, laws, methods, publications and expert contacts in these three fields. The toolbox is meant for policymakers, regional administrations, researchers, associations, practitioners or anyone interested in the topic. Explore and find inspirations for handling with care our precious Alpine soil.
